"Jonathan Edwards was a preacher, scholar and early American Theologian who helped start Princeton University. His work, ministry and especially this sermon was used by God in what is known in American Religious History as "The Great Awakening" which was a time of great, spiritual revival in early America. This message is a classic. You might here of it even in secular American literature or history classes. Don't believe any propaganda, which characterizes this as a bad representation of Christianity. The truth that Edwards explains in this message is sobering wisdom and sound, scriptural advice. You would do well to read the entire message, and ultimately understand how God's gracious appeal to us is to escape from righteous judgment through his mercy offered in Christ.
